About Greg Pope and Southern Girl Fishing Charters

Greg Pope is the captain of Southern Girl Charters at the world famous Whale Harbor Marina in Islamorada, Florida.

He was born and raised in Islamorada, also known as the fishing capital of the world.

Gregís professional fishing career began in 1989 as he split his time between his college studies at Florida State University and his passion for fishing in Islamorada. Upon graduation, he continued as a first mate and then earned his captainís license in 1993.

He has operated his own charter fishing business for 15 years and has established himself not only as a day charter captain but also as a fishing master. Greg has won many tournaments. Some of them include The Crown Royal, the Cheeca Lodge Presidential, Islamorada Fishing Club, Over the Hill and the original Islamorada Sailfish Tournament.
